The Story

This renovation project was undertaken by AEI’s associate designer, Lauren Metts. Lauren has been a huge pioneer for historic preservation and restoration, in the city of Cookeville, Tennessee. When she saw this building, she knew she couldn’t just let it continue to sit there and fall apart. In 2018, she took on the challenge of completely renovating a house that was built in the 1930s. This home was abandoned and left to deteriorate over the years. Many, hours, sweat, and even some tears, were put into completing this beautiful craftsman home. This project was later featured as the focal point of the 2019 Parade of Homes Magazine.
